Hello and welcome. Let me help paint a picture of who I am: l'artiste.
Born and bred in New Orleans, Louisiana, my blood runs thick with a deep love of culture, food, music, and people. In a city such as New Orleans, one cannot escape art, as everything from architecture, to sculpture, to culinary arts bleed into every aspect of the city's culture and history. I was naturally inclined to take a likening to it, one way or another. Growing up in the heart of the colorful Crescent City, I found art to be my passion and started to dabble in a variety of studio arts. In high school, I practiced oil painting, water colors, drawing with pencil and colored pencils, and mixed media.
In 2012, I moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University, during which I found myself desiring more art to fuel my creative expression. To further my desire to learn a breadth of arts, I took up a pottery class, learning techniques like slab and coil building. It was in that dusty basement studio that I decided I was going to study art, but this time I needed something new. I quickly turned to graphic design, where I enrolled in Belmont's Design Communication minor. Design was an intimidating track to jump into, as I had to learn a whole new set of tools with Adobe along with translating my thoughts onto a screen (pencils were so much easier). I somehow got my bearings and finally felt comfortable by the last semester.
I found art in writing, as well. I majored in English Writing, which taught me to think of the world through a whole new set of lenses. By immersing myself in literature and theory, I learned the art of language. While this visual portfolio has yet to capture my love of English, I hope to someday incorporate the two. I know my journey with English isn't over. For now, I shall, "Continue my bookish examination of the contradictions and complexities of human motivation and desire," or at the very least, "Carry it with me, as I do everything that matters." Above all, I aspire after knowledge because there is nothing more exciting than to learn something new.
Currently, I am starting my journey as a freelance photographer and graphic designer in Nashville. Some of my work is experimental, as I am simply learning on my own. Here, you'll find a little bit of everything: from travel photography, to portraiture, to logo design.
Any projects, collaboration, or ideas are appreciated.
Cheers! Adios! Ciao!
